Today, Sock Season is beyond proud to announce our partnership with The Water Project. For the month of October 2016 Sock Season will be donating 10% of all online sock season sales to The Water Project. A charity which builds water wells for small communities to bring clean accessible water.
Did you know that 783 million people don't have access to clean water? Sock Season helps support The Water Project to bring clean water to those who are disenfranchised and disadvantaged in regards to something we take for granted every single day...clean.safe.water.
What makes the Water Project special is they're a multi-purpose charity they serve from basic geology to climate and culture, many factors determine the most sustainable project type to provide access to clean and safe water. The Water Project has experience helping communities drill boreholes, dig wells, construct small sub-surface dams, catch rain, protect fresh-water springs, filter surface water, and maintain proper sanitation and hygiene practices.
Every day in rural communities and poor urban centers throughout sub-Saharan Africa, hundreds of millions of people suffer from a lack of access to clean and safe water.
Women and girls especially, bear the burden of walking miles at a time (sometimes at a great risk to their safety) to gather water from streams and ponds - full of water-borne disease that is making them and their families sick.
